Travel information to Tibet
The infrastructure of the tourism industry is still in the basis
in the remote country of Tibet as it’s just opened to tourism
since 1985. Please do not expect the luxuries trip for Bhutan as
it’s the bit hard and adventurous one.
A traveler should bear with him a passport with validity
remaining no less than six months. Make sure that it has plenty
of blank pages for visas, entry and reentry stamps and
extensions. Besides, holding other ID's like student card or
driving license will be an advantage. Loosing passport in Tibet
is very bad, as you have to go to Beijing to get new one.
Visa arrangement
The special Visa for traveling to Tibet will be processed by
Adventure Monalisa Travels and Treks (P) Ltd. A Photocopy of
passport along with the following details should reach us at
least 2 weeks prior to tour departure date.
People traveling to Tibet from Nepal must be in group visa which
can be issued fro the organized group tours of any no of
participants. The group visa will be on a paper-format and not
on your passport.
Climate, clothing
and accessories
The high altitudes of the Tibetan Plateau make for climate
extreme- temperatures have been known to drop 27 degree (80f) in
a single day. However the climate in Tibet is not as harsh as
many people imagine it to be. Days are warm and sunny.
From October to March, Warm clothes are required to fight with
the frosty cold of Tibet. From April to September, light clothes
to shun with the scorching the heat are suggested. However a
jacket and a sweeter are advised throughout the year as the
weather may unexpectedly change at any time. Other recommended
accessories are: Personal first aid kid, water purification
tablets, toilet kit with toilet paper, flashlight with extra
batteries, sunglasses, water bottle, note book, pens, pencils,
camera and film and extra batteries for electronic Cameras,
binoculars, Duffel bag, rain gear, strong footwear, pocket
knife, sewing kits, compass, altimeter, drinking cup, towel,
plastic bags, dust mask, strong sun cream and money belt.
Altitude
sickness
As Tibet lie at an average altitude of 4000 meter, you are
likely to experience some of the minor symptoms and discomfort
of altitude sickness (headache, mild nausea, loss of appetite)
until your body adjust to the elevation. This can take from a
few hours to a couple of days, depending on the individual. Take
it lightly, but drink plenty of non-alcoholic liquids. Proper
hydration is critical to acclimatization.
Insurance
We recommend you to insure yourself against sickness, emergency
rescue, accident, Hospitalization, cancellation etc. We don’t
accept responsibility or expenses which may arise from mishaps
to persons or their belongings during the Tibet tours.
Currency
The unit of currency is Yuan with exchange rate US$ 1= 8 Yuan.
Foreign currency and traveler cheque is accepted at the Bank of
China in Zhangmu, Shigatse & Lhasa. Major Credit Cards are
accepted in Shigatse & Lhasa.

All the programs in Tibet are conducted strictly under the rules
and regulations of the Tibet Tourism Bureau but Adventure

make sure your journey a memorable one and pleasant one.
