Langtang - Gosaikunda Trek

The Langtang Valley is a beautiful alpine region to the North of Kathmandu bordering Tibet, which enjoys snow-covered peaks, a mild climate, and friendly hospitable inhabitants it make the ideal trek almost year round. Langtang offers a wilderness experience without the sometimes-arduous travel involved. The Gosainkund and Helambu regions lie to its south; these can be combined with Langtang to make treks from 7 days to 21 days.

ITINERARY:

 

DAY 01: Arrive in Kathmandu

Meet and greet at Airport then you'll be taken to your hotel. While in Kathmandu you will have time fascinating Buddhist and Hindu temples and shrines reflecting ancient local traditions are highlighted on our guided tour. There's time to explore the city's many charms on your own too. In the evening delicious traditional Nepali well come dinner await for you. O/N in Kathmandu

DAY 02: Kathmandu City Tour

After breakfast, we'll visit Swayambhunath temple, and said to be 2000 years stupa on a hillock offers breath-taking view of Kathmandu City. We will then processed to Visit Pasupatinath and Bouddhanath. After lunch we'll visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan (Lalitpur) - which is the oldest of the three major cities in Kathmandu Valley - famous for its Buddhist monuments and Hindu temples, and you can catch the traditional artisans working with wood, stones and metals. O/N in Kathmandu.

DAY 03: Kathmandu- Dhunche

Drive to Dhunche. Overnight here.

DAY 04: Dhunche - Syabru

This is a fine day of trekking, which traverses fir tree and rhododendron forests towards a ridge (2300m). From here we get a panoramic view all the way from Ganesh Himal in the west to Naya Kanga in the east and the Tibetan snowy summits. The trail drops steeply down towards the Bothe Khosi River towards Syabru, which is a busy village with its houses laid out in single file down the hillside. Sherpas and Tamangs farm this area.

DAY 05: Syabru - Lama Hotel

Following a high trail, we pass through terraces and bamboo massifs. We cross Syarpagaon to continue through a fine forest, alive with birds and the occasional troupe of monkeys. After crossing the Langtang Khola, we start the ascent of the valley and soon reach the shepherds’ huts that are Lama Hotel

DAY 06: Lama Hotel - Langtang

We now have a spectacular view of the Langtang Lirung (7246m). After a steep climb through the Langtang gorge, the ascent eases and the valley widens out into an area of yak meadows and rhododendrons. Further up, we reach Langtang, populated by Tibetans.

DAY 07: Langtang - Kyangin Gompa

It is an easy and pleasant walk through yak meadows. The village is spectacularly situated in a glacial amphitheatre dominated by high peaks. An excellent base for shorter walks towards the Langtang Lirung glacier, eastwards to Lagshisa glacier or a tougher ascent of the northern flank of the valley towards Yala Peak.

DAY 08: Kyangin Gompa - Ghora Tabela

We retrace our steps downhill and reach the army post of Ghora Tabela.

DAY 09: Ghora Tabela - Syabru

The trail leaves the alpine country and returns to the deep forest.

DAY 10: Syabru - Sin Gompa

We leave the Langtang valley to climb towards the sacred Gosaikunda lakes. A stiff uphill climb leads to the ridgeline offering views north into Tibet and west towards the Annapurnas. The second leg goes through old hemlocks and rhododendrons to Sin Gompa, high above the Trisuli river.

DAY 11: Sin Gompa - Gosaikunda

Through a rocky landscape and sparse bushes the trail follows two glacial lakes before reaching the main lake--Gosaikunda. This site is a great pilgrimage for Hindus during August, when thousands come to bathe and make offerings.

DAY 12: Gosaikunda - Sin Gompa

It is the same way of Sin Gompa to Gosaikunda

DAY 13: Sin Gompa - Dhunche

Descent through rhododendron forests and giant fir trees. We cross the Trisuli on a suspension bridge and follow the river along the south bank through fields.

DAY 14: Dhunche - Kathmandu

DAY 15: Departure

After breakfast, free to shop and pick up some last minute souvenirs, rest and visit the shop etc for you until time to leave the international airport for your final destination.
